I keep losing my bus p, so......?

i was thinking of writing my homeroom on it so if someone finds it then can return it if they're nice, i can't get another one b/c this is my thrid one so i can't lose it again. i wanted to write on it with sharpie but someone said that it won't go through the machine if it has any writing on it is that true? TY
