Question on Whiskey Distilling?

Ok then. I have never distilled spirits before. But I was just wondering, surely if you distill whiskey, and I put the temperature at about 78 degrees in the vat, won't pure alcohol come out the end? I don't want pure alcohol, I want whiskey, so how would I make distilled whiskey, and not pure alcohol come out the end of the still?
