Thoughts on missing books of the bible?

I'm referring to books that are mentioned in the bible such as the book of the wars of the lord, the book of gad, the book of Nathan the prophet. Also if you notice you see how in the NT they explain why certain things were written in the OT. Well in the OT they seem to imply that there is a old old testament see num 21:27.
