Flight maneuver in the movie Top Gun?

No. That was simple deceleration. The "cobra" had not even been invented when that movie was made as there were no aircraft capable of doing it. As powerful as a Tomcat is/was, it does not have the thrust to weight ratio to stand on it's tail. Also, attempting the "cobra" in a Tomcat would be pretty much a death sentence for that pilot. Tomcats were prone to getting into flat spins and that maneuver would just be asking for trouble. That being said, an F-22 can easily perform the "cobra".
