If your true love thinks of you as a friend, is it worth it asking her out to the prom?

I showed this one girl how I felt about her this year on valentines day. I bought her a mive rose and wrote a sonnet based on all her amazing qualities (I'm a poet type of guy lol} She said I would get over her, but I said I had always loved her and we hugged and that was it really. (I had been planning to do this for a while) I'm glad I took the dive now though because we are actually more closer then ever, even if it is in the friend retrospect. She still has the rose and looks at the sonnet to remind herself of all her great qualities when she is feeling down, I walk with her on the way home now too. She even asked today about going to see New Found Glory together? I thought.. is that a date? Or just a friend gathering lol. Anyhow, there's another guy in my year I am mates with and she is good friends with him too but I swear that he is going to ask her out to prom. My question, should I ask her out to prom? It's just the fear of getting told no, should I take the risk again?
