When are the Raiders gonna hire a head coach?

It's been a while with basically no news since the firing of Cable. But I'm starting to think it's because Cable's contract doesn't actually end until the 17th. Is that true? What does it look like is going to happen? Hue is going to take over as the head coach? Who's going to run the defense now that Cable is gone? I may seem a little dumb and uninformed about the currentness of the situation, but I live in Connecticut, so the Oakland Raiders are far from important out here.
