Why do people even consider new rappers in the same category as the greats?

I agree with absolutely everything you said. I love old school rap because i appreciate the artistic ability of the rappers. I also love new rap because i like to just chill out and throw on a track with punchline lyrics and a hot beat. But people always try to make it a competition between old rap and new rap. I don't see why they can't just enjoy both.
