So I'm hoping to get a conure next summer after I get more money from my summer job. Does anyone have any advice or tips on them? I'm just getting one, so is that ok? Hi Surfer. I get weird smells in my nose, and a weird taste in my mouth sometimes because of my thyroid problem. I don't think it's from the medication, but from the thyroid not being quite right. I also get stomach pain and bloating on and off. All of these are symptoms of having a thyroid problem. It can take a long time after starting thyroid medication for all your symptoms to disappear. over the past few years, i've been writing, drawing, inking, lettering, etc. my own comic. i've also compiled a large list of comic publishers that accept unsolicited submissions to send work into. while encountering such a dilemma of questioning the legitimacy and fairness would mean that i would have had to encounter success with a company first. and while these are high-hopes, i'd like to be informed just in case. hypothetically, if i were to reach such a point and get an offer from a comic publisher to have my work published, are there any scams or general pieces of information to keep on the look out for? for example, i'm unaware what would happen with the copyrights to the characters, story, and the book in general and what would be custom in such an industry. also, i've been attending san diego comic-con for nearly a decade now as well as the new york comic-con since it began in 08 or so. i attend a few others as well, but the point of this information would be: i go for my own personal enjoyment and entertainment, but is there any networking or work i can show while there (and specifically for san diego, is there much luck with the portfolio reviews?) i read often that comic companies don't want to be bothered with submissions or art while at conventions. i want to be able to go about this in the most informed way possible so literally any advice on submissions or getting your work noticed would be helpful.

Need Help Handling Family Woes...?

As trite as it sounds, I have a very dysfunctional family. I am the middle of 5 children. We are biracial, and that made it hard, at least for me, to make outside friends...I was close to my little sister for awhile, but she has not spoken to me for nearly 2 years due to a very petty disagreement. I am not close to any of my brothers either...there just never was a spirit of love in our home and as adults everyone seems to have gone their separate ways...recently, my nephew died, and he was actually beloved to all of us. As I said, it was rare to find love in our house growing up, but we all loved him. He committed suicide last month and was only 15...I had hoped that perhaps, the lining in that very dark cloud would be that it would bring us all together...it did not. There is a lot of tension when we get together and no one seems to care for each other. This has resulted in great feelings of inadequacy and loneliness on my part. I do not have other close friends and my family is certainly not close. I am a Christian and I have prayed about this and taken steps to show myself loving and available, but it is not received...any idea how I can begin getting this back on track????

Propane furnace showing soot!?

I just went to fire up the furnace...it's getting chilly outside and in. Anyway, I always check things out, like filters etc before cranking things on. I noticed soot just above the Control Access Panel. When I tap on the ductwork above, some more falls out. I went ahead and turned it on and watched it for a while and little bits of firey red soot was falling....not a lot but still some. It's being caught by the top edge of the Access Panel where it hooks on, and is pretty much out before it lands. What could this be and is it cause for alarm?

Ok Folks, a little background. I am a semi professional hypnotist and at times I get called on to do some hypnosis for parties and just for fun. Hi was recently hired on by a cl 2 railroad and I am supposed to start clroom training this week. It is alot different from cl 1's in the sense that it is only 8 days of clroom training and then (up to) 22 weeks of on the job training. My question is, I hear alot about tests on cl 1 railroads in the clrooms but since most of my training involves OJT are there going to be many tests? Or will they just leave it up to your supervisors to verify that you pass and send you on your way?

I also have hypothyroidism and my TSH was too high when I got pregnant. Your doctor started you at 25mcg because you can only increase the dose 25 mcg per month to avoid sending your body into shock. I recommend asking your OB to refer you to an Endocrinologist that specializes in thyroid disorders. That's what mine did. We have seen each other every month during my pregnancy and have the problem under control. I was already on 25 mcg when I got pregnant, and I am now 32 weeks and I have been up to 137 mcg for the last 3 months. My TSH is perfect. It should be between .4 and 4. Mine is 1.2. You will be fine, but I definitely recommend a specialist. He really put my mind at ease.

Give me your argument on this square (what seems like) paradox?

This is something i came up with while bored on an airplane. It will be difficult to explain so read carefully. How long is the diagonal of a square? Everyone knows it is x sqrt2 where x is the length of one side. Suppose now that we want to cut smaller squares out of this square to create a staircase. The 1st step is cutting a square 1/4th the area of the original square away from one of the corners. We now have two "steps". We now cut squares 1/8th the area of the original square away from the corners of our steps. Two steps, so two corners, so we cut away 2 of these squares. If we do this, we see that we now have a 4 step staircase. If we repeat this process ad infinitum we end up with infinitesimally small steps that are indistinguishable from the diagonal. Yet, if you calculate the length of our staircase, you will discover that it will always be equal to 2x (I won't do the math here, it's pretty obvious). Can you see the problem already? Let's take it one step further: You could make the argument that underneath the staircase there is more area, but actually if you take the limit to infinity, you will see that the area converges to 1/2 x^2 which is the same as if there was just a diagonal and not a staircase. Do I have a tire problem?

About 9 months ago I needed new tires on my Mercedes E350. I had a set of Capitol UHP's put on them but something was not right. I felt a wobbling in my steering Wheel at around 60 -65 mph. I took it back a few times to get the tires rebalanced and it was a little better everytime but never quite the same. At the time, I just figured I was being picky and forgot about it. Last week though, I got to thinking about how it bugged me so I took them back. After rebalancing and rotating, the wobbly steering was still there. Then they looked at my front end and told me there was a little play but nothing major in the bushings. Finally today they put a new set of Capitol's on and charged me $350.00 (mainly because it had been 9 months). They also said my tires had some "feathering" on them where the tread was worn more in some areas. After putting new tires on, I still noticed the problem and called the tire shop. They are now offering to put a new set of Hankooks on at no additional charge. I guess what I am asking is could it be the front end, Capitols etc...etc...? Are the Hankook's a good tire or should I be pushing for something better (even if it does cost me more) what do you think? Please let me know..
